2015-16 We screened over 33,000 children in the state! Lions in Action - "We Serve"
New Mexico Lions Operation KidSight, Inc. (NMLOKS, Inc.), is a 501c3 community service project, funded by grants from CHI St. Joseph’s Children and the NM Lions Eye Bank and donations from New Mexico Lions Clubs, with the goal to screen children (3-7 years old) in NM for amblyogenic risk factors and to fund eye exams and treatment for referred children whose families cannot afford it. NMLOKS, Inc., is a statewide project currently active in Otero, Lea, Bernalillo, Taos, Sierra, Los Alamos, Santa Fe, Sandoval, Hidalgo, Roosevelt, Luna, Grant, San Miguel, Dona Ana, Eddy, Valencia, Lincoln, Mora, Socorro, Torrance, San Juan, McKinley, Chavez, Socorro, Catron, and Rio Arriba Counties.
Since August 2015, NM Lions screened over 33,000 children in public and Indian schools, Head Starts, child day care centers, health fairs, and private schools. In February 2015, NMLOKS opened a Central Office in Las Cruces, NM, and Ms. Brenda Dunn is now the Program Manager. NMLOKS has partnered with NM Department of Health to Administer the Save Our Children Sight Fund.
A special thanks to Ann Zawistoski who provided the children's pictures on this page.
